Accommodation Options in Turkey for International Students

Most campus universities in Turkey offer various accommodation facilities or other options. In addition to university dormitories, there are also dormitories affiliated with the Directorate General of Credit and Dormitories (https://kygm.gsb.gov.tr/) and privately-owned student dormitories that cater to all students. Many of these dormitories include kitchens for students to cook their own meals, and there are also small cafeterias open late within the dormitory premises. Student dormitories in Turkey are segregated by gender and offer both private and shared rooms. Additionally, dormitories provide students with numerous options to participate in on-campus and off-campus activities and to socialize with many other students.

Furthermore, in all cities where universities are located, there are rented houses shared with other international or Turkish students. These houses consist of apartment-style buildings designated for students or sometimes individual houses rented by students. The prices of these houses vary depending on the city they are in, their proximity to the city center, or their location.

Foreign students, in addition to the results of the YÖS exam, can apply to universities with their diplomas and without taking an exam. The high school diploma grades of the students are taken into account. Of course, various criteria are considered in the application with the diploma grade. Among these criteria, it is expected that foreign students have exceeded the minimum diploma grade threshold.
